Physical Education
Our school uses the Physical Education curriculum alongside the Move Well, Move Often and Glen Daly Exercise+ resources to plan and deliver an exciting, enjoyable and inclusive P.E. curriculum.

All classes in our school are provided with 60 minutes timetabled P.E. lessons. We follow the full Primary PE Curriculum, ensuring that all six strands are taught throughout the year. The Aquatics strand is covered in first and second class. The children love going swimming and it gives the pupils the opportunity to build water confidence, develop basic swimming strokes and enjoy being active in the pool.
Land PAWS (Primary Aquatics Water Safety) is taught in first class. We teach PAWS to help children understand how to stay safe around water. PAWS offers simple, common-sense advice and life-saving guidelines that are easy for children to understand and remember.

A big congratulations to our First Class pupils who have successfully completed the PAWS programme!

This year, all teachers are following a whole-school PE calendar, ensuring that every class engages with the same strand and Fundamental Movement Skill focus each month.
This year's priority strand is Athletics. Athletics is taught to all classes in April and May. A big thank you to Niamh, our Athletic's coach, who works with each class throughout the year. She focused on developing key athletics skills, including relay running with batons, long jump, and javelin throwing, helping students improve their technique, build confidence, and most importantly—have fun while being active!

Our PE equipment has a designated home and is clearly labelled, making it easy for teachers and students to find what they need and to tidy up afterwards.
A special thanks to our Active School Committee, who work with Ms. Waters and Ms. Duffy to do a monthly tidy-up and equipment check. Their teamwork helps keep our PE store neat, safe, and ready for action at all times!
Ms. Waters and Ms. Duffy have attended two Physical Literacy courses. These courses focused on the importance of physical literacy—helping students develop the confidence, competence, and motivation to be physically active for life.
We have lots of new ideas to try out!
